Hello folks. I want to do a video for
you on some good long range used
electric cars. Um people often focus on
the really cheap stuff you can get and
I've done that in the past, but lots of
people want long range. I think a lot of
people want that comfort blanket and um
once you've got an EV, it's perhaps not
as much of an issue as you think it
might be. Not for a lot of people in any
case, but in any case, we're looking at
cars here around about 300 miles of
range or above. Um, all of these should
have probably below 80,000 miles on
them. And, um, we are looking at cars
that I think represent decent value for
money. Some of these will be available
way under 20 grand, by the way, and some
you'll be pushing that 20 grand to get a
really nice example. And, uh, I just
want to give a quick shout out to 3W
floor mats for sponsoring this video.
We're going to start off with the Tesla
Model 3 Longrange. It's the absolute
obvious one, and um, that's why I think
I should mention it first. Uh
specifically I'm going to look at the
2019 to 2020 because there are some real
bargains available there. 348 mi of
range I think on the longrange one. Um
and really I think it's probably the the
Model 3 is probably still the best all
round electric car you can get
particularly from this era like 2019 to
2020. I think it was streets ahead at
that point. There's a lot more
competition around now. Um, but I think
uh the 2019 2020 model was way ahead of
the pack and it's still right up there.
So, here's an example of the more budget
end of the longrange Tesla. So, this
one's a 2020 model. 70,000 mi on the
clock, 14 grand, you can get one of
those, which I don't think is too bad at
all. And if you did want to go for the
newer 2021 model, um, this one looks
like amazing value. This actually a 2022
car, 70,000 mi on it, 17 grand. Um, but
is a fair bit cheaper than everything
else at the moment on Auto Trader. Um,
so well worth keeping in mind. It's
exceptional value at that money, I have
to say. It's got long range, it's got
fast charging, it's got amazing
technology, the software just works
brilliantly well. The way it integrates
with the satnav, with the supercharging
network, all these things are great
positives. And for me, a huge one is the
app. The Tesla app is just pretty much
flawless. It's rock solid. You use it as
your key, so you don't have to carry too
much around. You've just got your phone
that acts as your key. You can send
satnav locations to the car. You can get
the car to chill to the right
temperature or heat up to the correct
temperature, defrost before you leave
the house or when you're returning to
the car, you can have it at the perfect
temp temperature when you arrive. You
can schedule all that sort of stuff so
it's ready for you to go to work every
day. Um, but the the best thing about it
is it's just rock solid. It never fails.
I've never had it fail. And I've got two
Teslas. I'm not a complete Tesla fanboy,
by the way, so I can tell you all the
bad things about Tesla and all the good
points, and there are both. Um, but for
me, the good far outweighs the bad. And
when you compare it to some of the other
stuff available for this kind of price
range, I just think it still sits that
little bit above um in many respects.
Anyway, um if you again that 2021's
probably the ideal one to go for. Um the
build quality is a bit better. You've
got heat pump as standard. Uh they've
got rid of the chrome on that one. It
looks a bit more modern. They got rid of
a lot a lot of the chrome. Um so if you
can push that, great. But if you want to
get into a Tesla for really cheap money,
then maybe look at the 2019 to 2020
version. Folks, when it comes to looking
after your pride and joy, you should
really think about investing in some
truly great car mats. Today's video is
sponsored by 3W Floor Mats, and they've
got an exceptional Prime Day offer for
you. In fact, they've got two. 3W Floor
Mats use 3D scanning to make sure that
their mats are an absolute perfect fit
for your car. That means you're not
getting things caught down the sides. It
really is protecting the under floor.
They can also be rinsed off in about 10
seconds. An absolute dodle to clean. And
if you want, you can add this luxurious
yet still rugged and easy to clean
carpet to the mats, which just gives
them a bit more of a luxurious feel
under foot. You'll also find with a lot
of car mats, there's the really
horrible, unpleasant sort of rubbery
synthetic smell, and that takes a week
or two to clear, and you get hit by that
smell every time you jump into the car.
That's not the case with these 3W mats.
They're completely odor-free and you're
not going to breathe in anything harmful
from them. And to celebrate Amazon Prime
Day, they've also got two fantastic
offers available for you. If you go on
to the 3W website itself between the
July the 1st and July the 15th, use the
code 20 not aguru. You'll get 20% off
all the prices on that website, giving
you money off your choice of 3W floor
mat. And also to celebrate Amazon Prime
Day, which runs between July the 8th and
the 11th, use the code appearing on the
screen and in the video description at
checkout on Amazon to save yourself up
to £56 of 3W products. Thanks to 3W for
sponsoring today's video. I use the mats
in both of my Teslas and I'm absolutely
delighted with them. Right, this one is
a bit of a cheap because it's not under
20 grand at the moment, although I have
seen one literally a couple of days ago
for 20 grand um or 20,300, something
like that. But it's the BMW i4. It's an
absolutely brilliant car. It's got
fantastic range. I'm just going to give
you the numbers on it quickly. This is a
one 2022 car, 77,000 miles on it, so for
its age, it's got high mileage. Um, but
I would just get a battery check done on
this, a state of health check. If
everything checks out, I'd have no
worries about this whatsoever. 364
miles. Um, 062 in 5.6 seconds. That
could serve you very well. It's really
smart looking thing. They're great to
drive. 22 1/2 grand for that car. Looks
like a bargain to me. Next one is the
Hyundai Kona Electric. So many people
have bought Kona Electric on the back of
my advice. They've often wanted
something that's a tiny bit more SUV
like than the Model 3. They've often not
wanted the minimalism of the Model 3.
Um, but they still want a decent range.
And I think the Kona is one of the best
value for money used electric cars you
can get. If you went up to the top end
of that 20 grand budget, there really is
plenty of choice for you. Um, another
sort of closely related cousin uh is the
Kia Nero EV. Both great cars, both great
options. They're sitting on essentially
the same platform and will do
essentially the same job for you. So,
very much worth a look at those. Also,
don't disregard the Kia Soul EV Max. It
looks like Postman Pat's van. It's mega
mega quirky, which for some people's a
positive and for a lot of people is a
big negative, but the range is really
good on those. And they have the best
sound system I think I've probably ever
heard in a a car, certainly in a car in
its class. absolutely bonkers. So, for
the Kona, you can now get one of these
for under 10 grand. 73,000 miles on it,
10 grand, 279 miles of range. Uh, for
the Nero, you're looking at 11 grand for
a 2022 plate, albeit with 75,000 mi.
With all these things, I'm showing you
sort of reasonably high mileage
examples, I guess, but of course, you
could drop down if it bothers you, get a
lower mileage example for a bit more
money. Um, but with a lot of these EVs,
the batteries and motors will go on for
quite a long time, and you don't have to
worry about the dreaded 100,000 like you
might in a petrol or diesel car in
general terms. Anyway, um, this one's
the twospec, £11,000, £75,000 mi, 2022
car. Uh, and the range on that one's
282. But if that looks just too plain
for you and you want to go for the newer
one, look what you can get for 18 grand.
23 plates, the new model, 26,000 miles.
Again, it's two trim level. Um 6 285
miles of range, 26,000 miles, £17,950.
And as for that Kia Soul, um 71,000 mi,
20 plate, 11 grand, all by the shouting,
and if you can live with the quirky
looks, it might actually be a great
choice for you. Folks, just a very quick
reminder to subscribe to the channel if
you haven't already done so. Thanks.
Next, we got the Hyundai Ionic 5 rear
wheel drive, 73 kWh version. That's the
bigger battery. 2021 model, 315 mi of
range roughly. Um, they're roomy, very
modern, excellent fast charging. You've
got the 800vt architecture. So on a
really fast charger, not only are they
capable of really high maximum charging
speeds, if you like, but the charge
curve is fantastic. So it will stay at a
a a good speed for a long period of time
where in a lot of EVs, they'll reach
that maximum spike, but then they'll
drop again and they'll sort of start to
tail off. Um, the Hyundai 800 volt
architecture, I think, about as good as
anything else on the market at the
moment, and it's been around for a
while, which is nice. Um, bad things I
guess on the Ioni 5. Some people say
it's got a soft ride. I don't think it
has. Some people say tech glitches. I've
never really found too many glitches
with it. Um, but lots of um, those
glitches I think have been resolved over
the years with updates and things. I've
only ever had the press cars and usually
they're completely updated and all up
together as you would expect. On five.
Um, these are now regularly 20 grand or
just below. Um, I've certainly seen lots
for just under 20 grand, but this is a
really low mileage one at 28,000 mi on a
23 plate. It's premium trim. £20,850
for this particular one. Uh, £315 mi of
range is claimed. Oneowner car that
looks like a really good example for
that kind of money. The VW ID3 may seem
like an odd one because for a lot of
people it was a little bit of a let down
when it came out. They wanted the
all-electric Golf and it just felt a bit
rushed. Um there were lots of software
bugs and things. Luckily, lots of those
have now been ironed out with um
updates. So hopefully it's now a lot
less quirky in the tech department than
it used to be. But the one I would go
for is the Pros. So that's got the 77
kWh battery. Um 336 miles of range.
They're efficient. They're good to
drive. Good boot space. and the later
model should have a lot of those bugs
taken out essentially, but if not, make
sure it's all been updated and is really
up together. VW3s are available at loads
of budgets now. Uh we're looking more at
the low end here, but you can get a
newer, lower mileage car for well under
20 grand still. 13,295
gets you a 21 plate with 75,000 miles on
it. It's the Pro S, which is important,
the 77 kWh because that's the one with
the more range. Obviously, if you want
more range, this video is about cars
with um longer range, but maybe you
don't need it. 338 mi is the claimed
range on that one. Tesla Model S, the 75
or 85. So, this is the oldest car we're
looking at. So, 2015 to 2016. Again,
loads of high mileage versions of this
that still have plenty of battery life
left in them. Um, so I wouldn't be too
scared by that. Um, really high
performance, nice and luxurious, loads
of practicality.
Now, there are two different driver
information systems in these cars. The
MC1 was the original one, and by all
accounts, that's got some bugs and
stuff, but some of them have had the
upgrade to the MC2. So, if you find a
car that's had the upgrade, you're on to
a bit of a winner with that, really. Um,
the Model S as well is a surprisingly
large car. You can get three adults in
the back and loads of luggage uh and
amazing performance in in most of them
to be fair. Um so definitely one to
consider. Pulstar 2 long range is well
worth a look if you go for the single
motor. Well over 300 miles of range,
clean scandi design. Um sound
reliability,
excellent Android based infotainment
system. Um, it's a little bit pants if
you want to use Apple CarPlay because
it's about that big on the screen, but
otherwise it's just a really decent
system. It's a lovely car to drive. The
build quality feels exceptionally good
in my opinion on the Polestar 2s and the
dash sort of wraps around you a bit
feeling like a bit of a cockpit. Some
people find it tiny bit claustro
claustrophobic, especially if they're
very tall, but I think they feel
absolutely great. And I I love the
Polestar 2. Just look at how these have
come down in price. At 67 12,000 mi,
2021 plate car, 16 grand, 16,300, 341 mi
of range, and it is a fantastic car, the
Polestar 2. It really is. The Ford
Mustang Macke. This is the extended
range version. Rear wheel drive 2021.
Uh, 379 mi of range. Um, it looks okay,
I think. Bit different. I don't know why
they put a Mustang badge on it. That was
a sort of a misstep as far as I'm
concerned, but Ford are quite good at
putting the wrong badge on cars. Capri,
huge range, great practicality, all that
kind of good stuff going on. I drove an
early version of this and hated it
because the accelerator pedal felt like
an onoff switch. like the way the regen
was working, it again felt like it'd
been rushed out, which at the time when
EV started to take off a bit. A lot of
manufacturers did because they arrived
late to the party. They didn't think it
was going to happen perhaps and um then
perhaps rushed a product out, but a lot
of the early software gremlins on the
Mackie have been resolved with updates.
So, just make sure it's got all the
latest updates if you get get yourself
one. and if it hasn't, get them to get
it updated for you before you take it
away because it will make a big
difference in terms of your quality of
life in my personal opinion. So, this
one's the extended range Mustang Macke,
which gives you 335 mi of range, or
that's what's claimed, 19 grand, 21
plate with 72,000 mi on it. And then
finally, we've got the Scoda Enyak 2021,
the IV80.
Um, I think the Enyak's one of the most
practical family EVs that you can lay
your hands on. Um, over 330 mi of range,
roomy, comfortable, wellb built. Again,
it's got some of those VW Audi group
software glitches that are in that sort
of generation of infotainment system.
So, it's just a case of making sure that
they've been um properly dealt with and
hopefully you'll live a long and happy
life with it because I think it's a very
good car and I personally prefer the
Nyak over the VW versions, the ID4 and
the ID5 for example. um partic well
speaking of the 2021 models anyway I
must admit I haven't been in a a more
recent ID4 ID5 and they may have
improved but if we go back to this era I
think the Aniac just felt a little bit
better all around it's quite striking
looking car as well particularly if you
go for one of the higher trim levels not
everyone's going to be in love with the
way it looks but everyone's going to
look at it and think oh because it
doesn't just look like another genero
box 332 mi of range claimed on this One
as well is the Scoda Enyak 80 Eco Suite
automatic. 67,763
mi 2021 plate. Just over 16 1.5 grand uh
for a car that should serve you very
well for quite a long time. I hope
you've enjoyed that one, folks. Please
don't forget to subscribe to the
channel. Please don't forget to give the
video a thumbs up and share with your
