Summary

Bullet points about the board that detects and tracks humans with radar.
• It uses millimeter wave radar module, 24 GHz radio waves to observe its surroundings.
• Measures distance by recording how long it takes for waves to reflect back.
• Uses receivers on top to determine angle of person based on time difference.

This board detects and tracks humans
with radar. And how it works is really
incredible. This is a millimeter wave
radar module, and it uses 24 GHz radio
waves to observe what's around it. Sort
of like an ultrasonic sensor, but way
more advanced. It can measure the
distance to a person by recording how
long it takes those waves to reflect
back. But those waves are moving at the
speed of light. So that's only a few
billionth of a second. It also has these
two receivers on the top of it. So if a
person is standing to the side of it,
the reflective wave will hit one of
these before it hits the other. And this
trillionth of a second difference in
time is used to determine the angle of
that person. It can also accurately
measure someone's speed with the Doppler
effect, the same thing that causes
things to change pitch as they move by
you. But probably the most incredible
thing is how easy it actually is to use
in your project. If you do want to learn
how to, we have an entire step-by-step
video guide link in the bio.
