through this door in the city of London
is something pretty incredible it can be
found around the side of St Paul's
Cathedral and is called the dean's door
it's not generally open to the public
you need to book onto one of their
triforium tours to go inside here but
inside you will find this the amazing
Dean stair or the geometric stair it's
an enchanting helical staircase that
winds its way 50 ft up into the
cathedral the design is pretty ingenious
only a tiny part of each step is
embedded in the wall so each one is
almost entirely supported by the one
below that is why they appear to almost
float and Harry Potter fans will no
doubt recognize it from the third Harry
Potter film it is the staircase up to
the Divination classroom if I remember
rightly in reality though you walk up to
find the hidden library or the triforium
library designed by Christopher Ren it
has one of the best preserved 18th
century Interiors in London it was a
collaboration in terms of design between
Ren and his prote Nicholas hawksmore and
ren employed his master Craftsman to
execute the work
