Ms. Bewlay will report to AIG President and CEO Eric Andersen, join the insurer’s executive leadership team and be based in New York, AIG said in a statement. She succeeds Christopher Flatt, whose planned departure from the insurer this fall was reported by Business Insurance on Tuesday. As executive vice president and global chief underwriting officer, Ms. Bewlay will be responsible for AIG’s underwriting strategy, including advancing underwriting management best practices and overseeing the insurer’s global underwriting organization. Ms. Bewlay most recently was group chief underwriting and pricing officer at Axa and a member of the group’s management committee since 2023. She previously held senior leadership positions at Swiss Re, C.V. Starr and General Star Management Co. She was a 2018 Business Insurance Women to Watch award winner .
