The New York-based organization will press lawmakers on these and other issues during its Legislative Summit, scheduled for March 18-19 in Washington. Protecting organizations against nuclear verdicts and other legal exposure is quickly climbing to the top of most risk professionals’ priority lists, RIMS said. “Third-party litigation funding exacerbates legal exposures, enabling outside investors to finance plaintiffs’ lawsuits in return for a portion of any settlement or award,” the organization said. In other legislative priorities, RIMS will advocate for reauthorization of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, a federal backstop for insurance claims related to acts of terrorism, that is set to expire in December 2027. TRIA plays a critical role in ensuring the affordability and availability of insurance, the organization said. RIMS will also continue to call for the reauthorization of a long-term National Flood Insurance Program. Related News Westfield Specialty reports $1.93B in gross written premium February 19, 2026 Va.
