Mr. Newell most recently was chief commercial officer at Newfront, where he led business units across insurance, benefits and retirement services. Before that, he held senior leadership roles at Marsh, including head of the Central U.S. region, overseeing a more than $500 million business. Willis Towers Watson acquired Newfront in December. Mr. Eknoian, who founded the Iselin, New Jersey-based brokerage in 2011, will remain closely involved, providing strategic counsel and supporting merger and acquisition activity, the company said in a statement. The leadership transition follows a multi-year succession plan. World is the 23rd-largest broker of U.S. business, according to the most recent Business Insurance rankings , and reported $564 million in brokerage revenue and 2,750 employees in 2024. The brokerage has more than 230 offices across the U.S. and the United Kingdom. World is backed by Charlesbank Capital Partners and Goldman Sachs Asset Management, which will continue to support strategic initiatives, including acquisitions and organic growth, the brokerage said. “Our focus now is to accelerate organic growth, deepen industry expertise and deploy technology to better equip our colleagues to deliver more for clients and enhance the experience with our carrier partners,” Mr. Newell said in the statement.
