If approved, the cut would mark the eighth consecutive rate decrease and the 17th reduction in the past 18 years, saving private-sector employers an estimated $10 million in premiums, according to the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. The proposed 1% reduction reflects an average statewide change, including administrative costs. Individual employers’ premiums would vary based on factors such as claims history, projected future claims and participation in bureau programs. The bureau’s board is scheduled to vote on the proposal at its Feb. 27 meeting. If approved, the new rates would take effect July 1.
