The new business, Totalis Specialty Group, will begin operations Jan. 1 and will be led by Kip Kelley, CEO of Aon Affinity U.S., as executive chairman, and Tom Gillingham, president of commercial risk at NFP, as CEO. The move follows a series of leadership changes announced last week that expanded several NFP executives’ roles across Aon’s middle-market operations. Aon acquired NFP for about $13 billion in 2024. Totalis Specialty Group will include 46 specialty programs, representing more than $5.5 billion in U.S. premium volume, according to an Aon statement. The group will combine specialty underwriting, program administration and distribution operations but will remain separate from Aon and NFP’s brokerage businesses, Aon said. Mr. Gillingham previously led NFP’s specialty managing general agent and managing general underwriter programs, including Totalis Program Underwriters. The group will initially focus on the U.S. market but is expected to expand into additional specialty insurance segments and international markets, according to the broker. Aon said it plans to grow the business through new programs and acquisitions.
