According to preliminary figures, Munich Re’s net profit for Q2 2026 was approximately €2.2 billion, supported by strong operational performance across the group and “very low” major-loss expenditure in its property and casualty (P&C) reinsurance business. The global reinsurance firm generated a net profit of €1.7 billion in Q1 2026. Combined with the preliminary Q2 2026 result, this brings net profit for the first six months of the year to approximately €3.9 billion. As a result, Munich Re said it remains “firmly on track” to achieve its full-year net profit target of €6.3 billion for the 2026 financial year, despite market speculation that the company could revise its guidance amid the ongoing soft market. Munich Re also said the preliminary results included a very strong investment result, which made a significant contribution to the exceptional net earnings of approximately €0.3 billion reported by ERGO, the group’s primary insurance subsidiary. The firm added that it will publish its full results for Q2 2026 as scheduled on 7 August 2026.
