Mr. Waters replaces Donna Nadeau, who has left the company. Ms. Nadeau, a 2015 Business Insurance Women to Watch honoree , was named head of large commercial in 2024. Mr. Waters will lead the large commercial and specialty underwriting portfolio across the U.S., Canada and Bermuda, Axa XL said. He reports to Americas CEO Lucy Pilko. He joined Axa XL in 2022 to launch its mid-market business in the Americas. Before that, he held a series of senior leadership positions at Liberty Mutual, including in construction and energy. Jim DiVirgilio, Axa XL’s recently retired chief claims officer who now holds an advisory role, will temporarily lead the mid-market team while the insurer searches for new leadership.
