Property buyers with favorable loss histories continued to benefit from abundant market capacity and strong competition among insurers, the brokerage said Wednesday. Rates for noncatastrophe-exposed properties were down as much as 10%, while catastrophe-exposed accounts saw decreases ranging from 5% to 20%. Shared and layered property programs recorded some of the steepest reductions, with certain risks seeing rate cuts exceeding 40%, USI said. The brokerage said insurers remain cautious on accounts exposed to severe convective storm, wildfire and flood risks. On the casualty side, primary general liability rates increased from flat to 12.5% during the first half and are expected to rise 2.5% to 10% in the second half. Umbrella and excess liability rates ranged from flat to 15% for middle-market accounts and from flat to 20% for larger risk-management accounts. The brokerage expects similar increases in the rest of 2026. Public company D&O rates ranged from flat to up 7.5% in the first half and are expected to remain within that range through year-end. Private D&O rates were flat to up 5%.
