The Motion Picture Association is calling on ByteDance to stop what it describes as large-scale unauthorized use of copyrighted works. In a statement cited by Deadline, MPA claims the Chinese AI service “has engaged in unauthorized use of U.S. copyrighted works on a massive scale,” adding that launching such a service without meaningful safeguards disregards long-established copyright law that protects creators and their jobs. As reported by Deadline, users have prompted Seedance 2.0 to generate videos that appear to repurpose studio content with striking accuracy. In addition to the Cruise versus Pitt faceoff, the tool has reportedly remixed scenes resembling “Avengers: Endgame.” The MPA is urging ByteDance to “immediately cease its infringing activity.” ByteDance did not immediately respond to a request for comment, according to Deadline.
