Ms. Signorelli, who left Zurich last week , will take up the role on Jan. 1, according to an AIG statement. She will oversee AIG’s commercial insurance businesses in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as personal lines. She will report to AIG President and CEO Eric Andersen and join the insurer’s executive leadership team. Ms. Signorelli rejoins AIG after about nine years at Zurich, where she held several senior positions, including group chief underwriting officer, CEO of commercial insurance and CEO of Zurich U.S. Before joining Zurich, Ms. Signorelli spent 17 years at AIG’s global specialties division, including as global chief underwriting officer of specialty lines. Her appointment is the latest in a series of senior management changes at AIG since Mr. Andersen, a former longtime Aon executive, was named CEO-elect in January and succeeded Peter Zaffino as CEO on June 1. Last week, AIG said Jon Hancock, executive vice president and CEO of general insurance, will retire at year-end and become a senior adviser. Mr. Hancock was named general insurance CEO last year after former Lloyd’s of London CEO John Neal, who had been appointed AIG president with responsibility for general insurance, withdrew before joining the company. Ms. Signorelli will assume responsibility for much of the business currently managed by Mr. Hancock. In July, AIG named former Axa executive Nancy Bewlay global chief underwriting officer, succeeding Christopher Flatt. Ms. Bewlay, who took up the role Sept. 8, reports directly to Mr. Andersen and is a member of AIG’s executive leadership team. AIG also hired former Aon executive Christine Williams as head of global client and broker relationships, effective Sept. 1. Mr. Zaffino stepped down as executive chairman from AIG’s board Sept. 15 and became a senior adviser. John Rice, previously AIG’s lead independent director, succeeded him as chairman.
