The insurance brokerage giant announced Tuesday it has signed a multiyear deal with Formula 1 as the racing series’ first-ever “Official Risk Partner” and “Official Insurance Brokering Partner,” proving once and for all that someone really does insure all those very expensive crashes. The partnership marks Marsh’s first global sports sponsorship across all its businesses, and executives say the fit makes perfect sense: both insurance and Formula 1 involve speed, precision and people trying very hard not to hit the wall. “Formula 1 embodies the pinnacle of performance, precision and resilience,” said John Doyle, president and CEO of Marsh, adding that success for both organizations depends on “data-driven insight” and “a keen analysis of risk.” Which is corporate speak for: “Please don’t crash the $20 million car.” The company will also sponsor “The Risk Perspective,” a content series on F1.com and the F1 app examining how drivers and teams manage split-second decisions at nine circuits worldwide.
