Trae Vaughan, managing director, will become president. Mr. Smith has served as CEO since the founding of Oakbridge Insurance Agency LLC in December 2020. He “will continue to guide the company’s strategic direction, develop talent, and cultivate new partnerships” as executive chairman, the broker said in its statement. Mr. James was most recently executive vice president, chief financial officer, and chief acquisition officer at Oakbridge, and has led the broker’s financial, legal, and mergers and acquisitions operations functions since its founding. Previously, he was senior voce president of Prime Risk Partners and then served as a mergers and acquisitions adviser for founder-owned businesses. Mr. Vaughn joined Oakbridge in April 2025 as managing director. Prior to that, he was a partner at Brock Insurance agency for almost 17 years. Oakbridge is the 50 th -largest broker of U.S. business, according to the most recent Business Insurance rankings. It was created in December 2020 through the combination of retail insurance brokers Founders Insurance, Hutchinson Traylor Insurance, McGinty-Gordon & Associates, and Waites & Foshee.
