Carbon has announced the promotions of Rob Crocker to Chief Underwriting Officer and Julie Gallagher to the role of Group Underwriting Management Director. In his new role, Crocker will oversee the firm’s consortia and its US strategy, while continuing as an Active Underwriter for Carbon Syndicate 4747. He brings more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, with expertise in building portfolios across Lloyd’s, UK, US, and Irish platforms. Crocker joined Carbon in 2024 as Active Underwriter. Prior to that, he served as Active Underwriter and Head of Professional Lines at Everest. Earlier in his career, he held underwriting roles at XL Catlin, Berkley Europe, and The Underwriter Insurance Company. In her new role, Gallagher will provide support to Crocker and Carbon’s underwriting teams. She joined Carbon in 2024 as Head of Syndicate Management and became Chief of Staff in 2025. During her tenure, she has been influential in managing Carbon’s relationship with Asta, building out its US strategy, and developing new initiatives to improve efficiency across the business. Before joining Carbon, Gallagher spent 11 years at Asta Capital, most recently serving as Head of Client Management. Prior to that, she held roles at Chaucer, Lloyd’s of London, and Aon. Carbon stated that these promotions will play a key role in supporting its continued success, alongside the execution of its growth strategy.
