Ms. Signorelli had led Zurich’s U.S. business since January and was named CEO of its global commercial business in 2021. That position no longer exists. Mr. Wells joined Zurich in 2020 to lead its newly formed U.S. middle market business and most recently was president of U.S. middle market, programs, captives and direct markets and a member of the Zurich U.S. executive committee, Zurich said. He previously held senior commercial insurance leadership roles at Chubb and Ace. Mr. Wells will be based at Zurich’s U.S. headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. His appointment as U.S. CEO is subject to regulatory approval, and Zurich will announce a successor to lead its U.S. middle market business, the insurer said. Ms. Signorelli joined Zurich in 2017 from American International Group as chief underwriting officer for commercial insurance and was named group chief underwriting officer in 2020. She was named a Business Insurance Women to Watch honoree in 2019 and is scheduled to be honored at Spencer Educational Foundation’s gala on Thursday.
