Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Relation’s management team, including CEO Tim Hall, will continue to lead the Chicago-based brokerage, BayPine and Relation said in a joint statement Wednesday. Founded in 2007, Relation has about 1,400 employees across more than 90 offices nationwide. It provides risk management and benefits consulting services to more than 230,000 clients, working with over 1,000 insurance markets. The brokerage offers specialty coverage to construction, transportation, agriculture, entertainment, health care, manufacturing, hospitality, real estate and other industries. Aquiline acquired Relation in 2019 and since then the brokerage has made more than 100 acquisitions, including buying retail entertainment insurance brokerage Albert G. Ruben from Aon last year. “BayPine’s investment will allow us to continue to complete strategic M&A, recruit tremendous talent, and build out our specialty capabilities,” Mr. Hall said. The deal will expand Relation’s use of AI and other technologies, improve response times for clients, enhance service offerings, and support entry into new markets, he said. Relation is the 33 rd -largest broker of U.S. business with $315 million in 2024 brokerage revenue, according to Business Insurance’s latest rankings . Its business split is about 48.65% commercial retail, 27% personal lines, 19% employee benefits, 5% services and 0.48% wholesale.
