At worst, Verizon says, it’s flat-out misleading. The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Manhattan and accessed by the wire service, alleges T-Mobile inflated savings — sometimes by more than 100% — by pitting its promotional prices against Verizon’s standard rates, then sweetening the pot with puffed-up values for perks like streaming services and satellite connectivity. According to Verizon, those benefits are doing a lot of heavy lifting. Verizon also says T-Mobile is recycling old material, Reuters writes. The carrier alleges the savings claims are “substantially identical” to ads already smacked down in 2025 and 2026 by the National Advertising Review Board, the industry’s official buzzkill. Another sore spot: comparisons Verizon says aren’t apples-to-apples. The carrier argues that T-Mobile ignored discounts Verizon customers get when bundling services — think Netflix with HBO Max, or Hulu with Disney+ and ESPN+ — making Verizon look pricier than it actually is. What Verizon wants: triple damages under the federal Lanham Act, additional damages under New York unfair-competition laws, and an order yanking the challenged ads. Suburban Seattle-based had no immediate comment to Reuters. Verizon “did not immediately respond to requests for additional comment,” Reuters wrote.
