The unit will develop modeling, data and underwriting research aimed at expanding the range of risks Arbol can price and write, according to an Arbol statement. It will support underwriting across specialty lines, including agriculture, energy, wildfire and flood. Mr. Atzberger is a remote sensing scientist. He previously was chief scientific officer at dClimate Labs and was part of a team of scientists that developed TESSERA, a data model that uses radar and optical satellite data to track changes in land surfaces. The innovation unit will integrate catastrophe models, data pipelines and underwriting research to support pricing and contract terms, Arbol said.
