Almost half, or 45% of the 1,250 U.S. executives surveyed by Wakefield Research in December 2025, said supply chain and logistics challenges was their greatest concern. Almost the same amount, 44%, said economic pressure topped their list of concerns, while 39% said tariffs and trade uncertainty were most concerning. Legal action also ranked high among executives’ concerns. Lawsuits affected 93% of organizations and 69% of executives “believe a single multimillion-dollar verdict would likely put their company out of business,” the survey said. The legal exposure is cited even more often by small and midsize businesses, including 76% of executives at companies with annual revenues below $5 million, and 71% of those with revenue of $5 million to $50 million. Most businesses, 92%, have had a weather-related disruption in the past five years, and 50% of executives think another major weather event or natural catastrophe could force their company to close entirely. Amid the volatile conditions, almost all, 98%, of executives plan to reevaluate insurance coverages in 2026. Nearly half, 47%, must add coverage as their business expands, while 43% want to decrease overall risk by adding coverage.
