Some 34% of respondents to a FlexJobs survey identified meetings that could have been emails as a workplace “ick.” Another 29% objected to describing the workplace as a family. Taking credit for someone else’s work topped the list at 65%, followed by micromanaging at 57% and gossiping at 54%, according to the job-search company’s Workplace Culture Report, which included input from 2,142 respondents in the United States in August. Working remotely offered no guarantee of escaping judgment. Nearly a quarter said something in a coworker’s video-call background had changed their opinion of that person — 16% negatively and 8% positively. The survey also found that just 10% shared quite a bit or almost everything about their personal lives at work. Relationships and dating topped the list of topics respondents believed colleagues overshared about.
