Mr. Terryn, currently CEO of Zurich North America, will succeed Adrian Cox, who is leaving Beazley following completion of the transaction. Mr. Terryn’s appointment is subject to regulatory approval, Zurich said in a statement. Zurich also named Helen Pickford, currently chief financial officer of Zurich U.K., CFO of Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty. Beazley CFO Barbara Plucnar Jensen will remain as a senior adviser through March 2027 to assist with the integration. The acquisition also resulted in changes to Beazley’s board, with nine directors stepping down and Mr. Terryn, Ms. Pickford and three other directors joining the board. After several rejected proposals, Zurich agreed in March to acquire Beazley. The acquisition combines Beazley, one of the largest insurers operating at Lloyd’s of London, with Zurich’s existing global specialty operation, which will be headquartered in London. Zurich managed a specialty portfolio of about $9 billion before the acquisition, and the companies said when the deal was announced that the combined operation would have about $15 billion in specialty gross written premium. Zurich said it expects the combination to generate more than $1 billion in additional annual revenue growth by 2029, at least $150 million in annual cost savings and free up at least $1 billion in capital within two years of closing. The court overseeing the transaction approved the acquisition Sept. 22 and it became effective Thursday. Beazley shares were suspended from trading Thursday and delisted from the London Stock Exchange Friday.
