On Wednesday, federal district judge Kyle C. Dudek ruled that defendants Justin Sorensen and his new employer, Alliant Insurance Services, first needed to receive notice of Hub’s request and an opportunity to respond. According to the complaint in Hub International Midwest Ltd. v. Justin Sorensen and Alliant Insurance Services Inc., Mr. Sorensen resigned from Hub without notice on June 26 and joined Alliant the same day. The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida on Tuesday. Mr. Sorensen, who lives in Naples, Florida, had signed a confidentiality and nonsolicitation agreement in December 2022 barring him from soliciting or servicing Hub clients for two years after leaving the company, according to the complaint. Hub alleges that on his last day, Mr. Sorensen told a client that Hub had “no diligence team in place” and would have “trouble supporting” the client, while saying Alliant already had “everything in place” to take over. Within days, several clients Mr. Sorensen had serviced at Hub submitted broker-of-record letters transferring their business to Alliant, the complaint states. Real estate developer SFR3, described as Mr. Sorensen’s largest account at Hub, accounting for about $573,000 in annual revenue, moved to Alliant on August 4. In a letter attached to the complaint, a lawyer for Mr. Sorensen and Alliant stated that Mr. Sorensen “is abiding by his post-employment restrictions.” Related News Utah high court upholds teacher’s permanent disability award August 14, 2026 Underwriting, investments boost Samsung Fire & Marine’s profit August 14, 2026 Marine insurers cancel war cover in wider Red Sea zone August 14, 2026 Nat cat losses drag IAG’s profit down 25% August 14, 2026 Quake to trigger insured losses across LatAm market: Guy Carpenter August 14, 2026 GIC Re’s profit jumps 10% August 14, 2026 Pelagos reverses prior-year loss August 14, 2026 Reinsurers brace for more competitive second half: Morningstar DBRS August 14, 2026 GCC insurers largely shielded from war claims: S&P August 14, 2026 Facebook-f X-twitter Linkedin-in Business Insurance is a singular, authoritative news and information source for executives focused upon risk management, risk transfer and risk financing.
