Marine artist Robert Wyland, whose 17,000-square-foot “Ocean Life” mural had kept watch over downtown Dallas since 1999, has sued FIFA, FIFA affiliates and the owners and managers of the building where the artwork lived, alleging the mural was painted over without his knowledge or consent, according to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth. The federal lawsuit seeks at least $25 million in damages and claims violations of the federal Visual Artists Rights Act. The mural, also known as Whaling Wall 82, featured life-sized whales and other marine life.
