Analyzing insurance “incidents” per 1,000 drivers — accidents, DUIs, speeding tickets and other roadside regrets — the report ranks which car brands are most likely to inspire white-knuckled prayers from everyone else on the road. Taking the top spot: BMW drivers, who clocked in with the highest overall incident rate and a lead in DUIs. Not far behind were Ram truck drivers and Tesla owners, suggesting that horsepower, pickup bravado and cutting-edge tech all come with a side of chaos. The study also found that Ram and Subaru drivers are especially accident-prone, while Infiniti drivers appear to have a complicated relationship with speed limits. On the other end of the asphalt spectrum, Chrysler drivers emerged as the nation’s most law-abiding, followed closely by Cadillac and Mercury drivers — proof that nothing says “I will use my turn signal” like a car your uncle might still own.
