Around 1,000 UK general insurance professionals gathered in Park Lane last night to celebrate outstanding market achievements at flagship awards ceremony – but which firms took home gold, silver and bronze prizes? The UK general insurance (UKGI) market turned out in force last night (3 December 2025) as around 1,000 industry leaders, innovators and rising stars attended the Insurance Times Awards 2025 at Grosvenor House in London’s Mayfair. Across more than 30 categories, judges awarded gold, silver and bronze trophies recognising excellence in broking, claims, underwriting, technology, customer outcomes, sustainability and leadership. Entries this year displayed a clear step up in ambition, creativity and technical sophistication, reflecting the pace of change sweeping through the UKGI sector. Opening proceedings, Insurance Times editor Katie Scott welcomed attending finalists and their firms, commenting that trophies would be presented ”to firms and individuals that have truly excelled and made a visible, genuine difference to end customers, partners and employees”. She continued: “Our categories pinpoint stellar performance in commercial and personal lines, across brokers, insurers and MGAs. We also recognise those that have gone over and above when it comes to fraud mitigation, risk management, technological innovation, diversity and inclusion, claims practices and sustainability initiatives – to name a few key areas.” The awards ceremony blended industry celebration with standout moments of inspiration. Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen and punctuated by a high energy musical performance halfway through the evening from Abba tribute band Björn Again, the event kept the room buzzing from the first award to last. Showcasing standout impact Some of the evening’s most prestigious awards were nominated categories, reserved for exceptional individuals whose impact goes beyond commercial performance. Graeme Trudgill, chief executive at Biba, received the Insurance Times Industry Achiever Award, with judges noting his transformative influence on the trade body’s operations and results for broker members, as well as his positive, energising leadership style. The inaugural Positive Impact Award, meanwhile, went to Sedgwick investigator Samuel Hayden-Harler, whose advocacy work, fundraising efforts and personal resilience following a motor neurone disease diagnosis deeply moved Insurance Times judges. The last nominated award, the Insurance Times Young Achiever Award, sponsored by Markel UK, went to Yasmin Berhardt, medical malpractice underwriter at Altea Insurance. Judges said: ”Berhardt’s career to date showcases a professional on the rise, someone taking their career seriously and proactively exploring the upper rungs of the career ladder. We are excited to see what Berhardt does next.” In terms of a coveted organisational award, all eyes were peeled to see which business would take home the General Insurer of the Year accolade, sponsored by Sedgwick. This year, the title went to Aviva – despite stiff competition from Allianz, Axa, QBE and Zurich.
