MAPFRE Re, the reinsurance arm of Spanish insurance company MAPFRE, has announced the appointment of Benoit Goureau as the new director of its Brussels Management Center, succeeding Bernard Chanteux. In his new position, the executive will be reporting to Mark Meyerhoff, Regional Director for EMEA. Goureau brings over two decades of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors, having joined Mapfre Re’s Paris Management Center in 2024. He has a strong track record in reinsurance underwriting and client and broker management, having held senior leadership positions at leading companies in the industry, including Beazley and Swiss Re. Chanteux, who has been part of MAPFRE Re for close to eight years, will be leaving the company to begin a new professional chapter. “We would like to sincerely thank Bernard for his dedication, professionalism, and valuable contributions to MAPFRE Re during his time with the company, and we wish him every success in this new stage of his career.” a MAPFRE Re spokesperson commented. Adding: “We wish Benoit every success in this new role and look forward to the contribution he will make as we continue strengthening our presence and relationships across the European market.”
