The fish, Fede and Magui, had been living in a 40-liter glass case exposed to sunlight, street noise and the occasional tapping child, CNN reported. An animal-rights group filed a complaint under Argentina’s animal-abuse law, and a court ordered the pair moved to a more suitable home. They now reside in a 2,500-liter tank — a housing upgrade of roughly 6,150%. The court ruled that the fish should remain with their adopter and recognized them as subjects of law rather than mere property. The restaurant did not object, according to CNN, perhaps deciding there were plenty of other fish in the sea — and, less reassuringly, on the menu.
