A new survey from the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America found that only 31% of Americans review or shop their insurance policies each year. Most wait until premiums rise, life changes occur, or a coverage problem pops up. That’s despite the fact that 88% say insurance is important to their financial security. Nearly half of respondents (49%) said they only revisit their policies after a premium increase or never review them at all — meaning coverage can quietly drift out of sync with their lives until a claim or billing surprise forces the issue.
