Terms of the transaction, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, were not disclosed. Richmond, Virginia-based Southern States Cooperative, founded in 1923, is an agricultural retail and service cooperative providing a range of products and services, including crop nutrition, seed, livestock feed, and animal health supplies, among others. The insurance business, Southern States Underwriters, founded in 1953, is a managing general underwriter providing commercial property and casualty insurance to suppliers, distributors, and service providers for the agricultural industry, Amynta said in a statement. Southern States Underwriters serves as the attorney-in-fact and exclusive distribution partner for the Southern States Insurance Exchange, a reciprocal serving the agribusiness market, the statement said. It has 16 employees and all will be joining Amynta, according to an email from a spokeswoman. John Madden, president, will continue to lead the business following the transaction, the statement said.
