In a joint statement, the companies said: “Aon’s claims against Howden have been settled on terms which are confidential between the parties.” They declined to comment further. Aon sued Howden and the former staff after they joined Howden’s recently established U.S. retail business in November. Aon alleged that they breached their employment agreements by taking confidential client and employee salary information with them. A judge issued a temporary restraining order in early December and a preliminary injunction ordering the former Aon brokers to return confidential information and barring them from soliciting Aon clients later in the month . Howden has recruited hundreds of brokers from rivals since launching in the United States last summer. It settled a suit filed by Willis Towers Watson but still faces litigation brought by other companies, including several filed by Marsh. In addition, Aon and Howden settled a separate case Aon brought in the United Kingdom related to former Aon staff in Latin America.
