Syndicate 1987 will deploy capacity across a portfolio of casualty insurance, reinsurance, political risk and trade credit, Convex said in a statement. Asta will be the managing agent, and Allison Hollern, head of financial institutions at Convex, will be the active underwriter, subject to regulatory approval. “The introduction of Syndicate 1987 strategically complements Convex’s inaugural (Lloyd’s) vehicle, Syndicate 1984, which will remain dedicated to the whole account reinsurance of Convex, while streamlining to provide international capacity for direct short-tail risks,” Paul Brand, CEO of Convex said in the statement.
