H.B. 2680 would require that the database provide information, including the insured’s name, the insurer’s name, and the policy’s expiration date. The bill would also require the commission to maintain records of all workers compensation policies sold by each broker or agent, and it would require insurers to provide the commission with a copy of the declaration page for each workers compensation policy and the name of the broker or agent who sold it. The declaration page would be required to identify the number of covered employees, the estimated payroll amount per employee classification, and a quick-response code that is linked to the work comp policy database that the ICA would be required to create. Insurers issuing zero estimated exposure policies would be required to provide a signed statement from the applicant saying it has no employees. H.B. 2680, which was cleared by committee Monday, would also require the Industrial Commission to investigate allegations of premium fraud when notified by an insurer.
