Eggert, left, and Kimberly M. Melvin Claims Disputes Oct 1, 2026 A dozen insurance coverage partners have left Wiley Rein to start a boutique firm representing insurers in “litigation and other high-value coverage matters,” according to a statement from the new firm on Thursday. Tyka is headquartered in Washington and the managing partner will be Benjamin C. Eggert, who co-chaired Wiley’s insurance practice with Kimberly M. Melvin, who is also joining the new firm. Ms. Melvin was a 2013 Business Insurance Women to Watch winner. Mr. Eggert and Ms. Melvin will be joined by nine other partners, eight associates and one counsel, all from Wiley, the statement said. The firm will represent insurers across five practice areas: directors and officers liability and financial institutions; cyber, privacy and technology, professional errors and omissions; general liability and artificial intelligence. The firm’s name is derived from tyche, an ancient Greek word “used for chance and its effects,” according to the statement.
