Terms of the acquisition, which is expected to close in the third quarter, were not disclosed. Waverly, Iowa-based Accel provides commercial and personal insurance, employee benefits, and agribusiness coverages, Marsh McLennan said in a statement. It has seven offices across Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, and Kansas, and more than 130 employees, all of whom are expected to join Marsh McLennan Agency. The Accel Group was founded in 1936 and merged in 2018 with Millhiser Smith Agency, founded in 1928, the statement said. The deal will expand Marsh McLennan’s footprint in Iowa and strengthen its presence in neighboring states, David Eslick, CEO of MMA, said in the statement.
