Mr. Aguilar, who is based in Vallejo, California, will oversee strategy, underwriting and portfolio performance in the newly created role. Mr. Aguilar most recently was senior vice president and national manager of major accounts property, shared and layered at Liberty Mutual. Before that, he led the insurer’s U.S. retail property business and spent six years at Ironshore, a Liberty Mutual unit, where he managed wholesale property for the Western and South-Central regions. Earlier in his career, he was senior vice president at Brit Insurance and held underwriting and leadership roles at Maiden Re North America, GMAC Re, SRO Napa, St. Paul Cos. and Sherwood Insurance.
