The program is supported by more than $6 billion in builders risk capacity and $7.5 billion in operational property capacity supplied by “a panel of leading global insurance carriers with significant expertise in complex property and construction risks, including data centers,” according to an email from a spokeswoman. It was developed by Lockton’s Data Centers and Digital Infrastructure Practice to provide greater coverage consistency and ease of transition as projects move through construction to their operational phase, the broker said in a statement. Large data center projects can become operational in stages while portions of the facility remain under construction, leading to potential gaps in insurance coverage, the statement said.
