Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance Commissioner Carter Lawrence signed orders Dec. 23 approving a 1.1% decrease in the assigned risk rate level and a 2% overall loss cost decrease for the voluntary market. The changes take effect March 1 for new and renewal policies. In a statement, Mr. Lawrence said improved workplace safety leading to fewer injuries has contributed to the 2026 loss-cost decrease. Lower lost-time claim frequency and more stable claims costs have helped drive the rate cuts, he said.
