Mr. Roos will begin underwriting inland marine while forming a team in his newly created role, Westfield said in a statement. He will report to executive vice president of excess and surplus property Andy Hendrix. The inland marine unit expands Westfield Specialty’s property offerings beyond its existing shared and layered property and middle-market property products, the statement said. Mr. Roos was most recently regional product leader for property and marine at Markel. Prior to that, he held positions at The Hanover Insurance Group and at Zurich. Inland Marine is a growing specialty line of business in the United States, Mr. Hendrix said in the statement. Westfield Specialty is part of Westfield, a U.S.-based property and casualty insurance company.
