Aon, a global insurance and reinsurance broker and risk advisor, has appointed Joe Liang as Executive Chairman of Greater China for Reinsurance, based in Hong Kong, effective immediately. In his new role, Liang reports to Rupert Moore, Chief Executive Officer of Asia Pacific for Reinsurance. Aon explained that under Liang’s leadership, the team will continue helping clients identify opportunities, address emerging risks, and strengthen business performance. This appointment reflects the broker’s continued commitment to supporting re/insurers across Greater China with the global perspective and local market understanding “needed to navigate a rapidly evolving landscape.” Liang has over 34 years of experience in the insurance industry. He will help advance Aon’s capabilities and deliver insights that support better business decisions for clients. In the past, he has held senior leadership across underwriting, reinsurance, risk management and actuarial functions in China and the U.S., including executive roles at SAIC Insurance Limited and Ping An P&C Insurance Company. He will help strengthen the firm’s offerings, enable innovation, and drive growth across Greater China, according to Aon. Moore commented on the appointment, “Joe brings a unique combination of insurance, reinsurance, actuarial and technology experience that will help strengthen our ability to serve clients across Greater China. “His leadership will help us continue delivering the insights, capabilities and solutions that clients need to make better decisions and pursue growth opportunities with confidence.”
